Mexico City, who knew?

Writer's picture: Ellen GittelsohnEllen Gittelsohn

In the Costa Rica airport on our way to Mexico City, we were fortunate enough to listen to a musician with mucho talento. His guitar playing and voice were compelling. He played and sang a perfect mix of pleasing Spanish music and nostalgic American Pop, such as Hotel California and Beatles tunes. Why didn't I record more or ask him where I could find recordings? Momentary pleasure will suffice.

Thank you, Claire, for recommending the amazing Colonia Condesa neighborhood in Mexico City, where we stayed for three nights before taking a five-hour comfy bus ride to Guanajuato City. In Mexico City, we stayed in a sweet Airbnb and experienced gorgeous parks, tree-lined streets, and delicious/healthy food. The vegan black sesame ice cream was the best! There were many designer dogs in the parks. Sculptures and art were everywhere. Who knew? Someday, we would love to spend more time exploring Mexico City and its rich history. Fun facts: Mexico City is one of oldest cities in North America, built on the site of the ancient Aztec capital Tenochtitlan, making it a place with a fascinating and complex past that goes beyond just being a popular tourist destination today.--Google AI  For more information click here.
